When an order is approved, it will create one authorization in the online bank to the end customer who gives you, as the seller, permission to withdraw a given amount of money. On invoice order will it give you as a seller one authorization to create an invoice when you send the item out to your customer. Auto-capture (or automatic move) is when an order is completed, i.e. the money is withdrawn, completely automatically without you as the seller having to go in and manually process the order.
The regulations state that you must not withdraw money from an order before you have dispatched the item to your customer. For the vast majority of online stores, you will therefore have to go into the online store's administration page and process each individual order. If, on the other hand, you sell goods that are delivered to the customer at the moment of sale, you will usually be able to choose to withdraw the money automatically.
Examples of companies that should consider having auto-capture activated are those that:
When you have auto-capture activated, you will always be charged for the entire transaction fee regardless of whether you make a return or not.
If, on the other hand, you process orders manually, you will be able to cancel the order before the money has been withdrawn, and thus not be charged a transaction fee. With manual treatment, you will also be able to simply pull parts of the authorized amount, and then you will only get a transaction fee based on the amount you actually withdraw.
